Winding Roots & Woven Threads

Hi there, I’m Izzy.

I’ve always felt that creativity is simply about curiosity and the joy of making things. Growing up, I was lucky enough to be surrounded by two very different kinds of inspiration: my mother, who could look at absolutely anything and magically transform it into art, and my father, who brought a beautiful, meticulous precision to everything he touched. Somewhere in the middle, I found my own groove. My work is exactly that—a blend of wild imagination and patient, precise detail.

My creative path has winding roots. I studied fine arts in CÉGEP, dove into night classes at Concordia for computer arts, and took a semester of photography to learn about lighting and composition. For the past 25 years, I’ve channeled that training into a career as a graphic and web designer. While it's a digital medium, I've always loved the structured, puzzle-like nature of working with layouts and front-end design—finding a lot of satisfaction in the precision required to bring a visual vision to life.

When I wasn't behind a screen, I spent my spare time simply wanting to see what my hands could create. I’ve explored everything from intricate Ukrainian egg painting (with ostrich eggs being a personal favorite!) and woodworking, to sculpting with homemade clay and mastering complex hair braiding.

Looking back, I realize every single one of those chapters—whether structuring a digital layout or twisting thread—was just preparing me for what I do now with Sculpted Thread. Today, I combine that lifelong love of structure, dimension, and detailed hand-work to weave intricate, gravity-defying fiber art.

I’m so glad you’re here to share in the journey. Welcome to my digital gallery!
